The reason shows have to match completely including the specials is to make sure the data stays accurate and consistent.

I’m attaching a screenshot of Season 1 on the transition page of Star Trek TNG (https://trakt.tv/transition/tmdb/shows?trakt_id=653). [Just in case it’s too hard to see. *I also have a third column that you don’t- the Trakt listing.]. TVDB has the first episode as two parts so 1×1 and 1×2 are “Encounter at Far Point”. TMDB only has the first episode titled that way. If we migrated it as is, the database would interpret all of the current views of 1×2 “Encounter at Far Point Part 2” are now what TMDB considers 1×2 “The Naked Now”. This means that every users’ history is now incorrect and off by one. This means the times that the episode was watched are wrong. It ends up having a trickle down effect on almost everything. In this Star Trek example, it may not seem like a big deal, but it affects more than it initially seems.

Our priority is keeping user data as complete and unaffected as possible through this transition. These listings will have to be manually matched together in the back end of the database by our developers to ensure accuracy. Unfortunately, the developers’ time is at a premium, so please be patient while they work through their queues.
