Yes I just saw someone was watching the show I was watching and I feel disappointed I can't message them to see how they are liking it. Camaraderie, it's what were all after in life, no?

Just wanted to pile on. It would be nice if there were messaging amongst users. I think I would even pony up the vip money.

You should really add private messages to the site so members can exchange recommendations and talk about TV shows they follow together. ask them about other things. of course everybody should have the right to close the messages if they want. and please don't make it only for the VIP. hope you won't ignore it or forget about it.

I would find a messaging option helpful, as well. Especially when a Follow turns into a Friend. It would be nice to say "Hi!" and explain why I'm following them - it is usually an encouraging word.

Adding the option to communicate with friends through Trakt would help a community grow. I saw a suggestion that was brought up back in 2013 but was wondering if anything has progressed on that?

Yeah, this the feature I most want. Whilst watching a show Trakt can show you who else is watching the same episode at the same time. This is very special I think, as it is totally random. I eagerly wanted to chat with my fellow episode viewer but realised that this feature wasn't implemented. An option to switch on availability to chat should also be implemented incase you want to watch in peace.

Since Facebook Messenger is now a platform, you could use it.

VERY UNLIKE ancient sms texting, that 'phone texting', that ties you to ONE device, xmpp texting frees you to use any internets device. One xmpp texting account, or jabber id, can be use for each device, or one account among every device, or other combination which suits /you/ best.

Using 'resource' and 'priority' you can identify which device or location you are currently, or allow friends to send messages to a specific device/location.

Yes he means like a PM. That's the tittle of the suggestion.
The site really lacks a more social interaction between users. Commenting publicly on TV or movies pages isn't that.

if you follow your friends you see when they make a new shout or review on the dashboard or you can trigger the notification by using their username like this: @yourfriend.

This is a great idea and i'm kinda surprised that it's not already implemented.
Key features should be:
Friend to friend messaging.
Private user to user messaging
Commenting on activities

This private messages could stay in network page. And we only could talk with other users if they are our friends, to avoid messages from anyone.

To talk with them, you could put a message box, like Rosane said, next tothe user's name in their profiles...

I also would LOVE to be able to comment on one of my "friends" activity. For example. Jhon rated The Wolverine, It would be awesome to be able to talk with him about it on this specific activity.

Of course first we need a way to talk with friends in any how (on their profile pages). It would make the experience with the site a lot more immersive.

I think this is a really needed update.
