Comments and Moderation
I've written a rather short summary of my thoughts about the comments in v2 of trakt here: https://support.trakt.tv/forums/188762-general/suggestions/7325147-a-little-feedback-about-comments
Now, this was closed at the end of April with the comment saying the not finished, other things you'd "cover" in other tasks. So, 8 months later and nothing more happened.
There's an even older suggestion about "community moderators" here: https://support.trakt.tv/forums/188762-general/suggestions/6955017-idea-community-moderators
That one is from January with a "Long Term" label.
While I do not agree with the suggested application requirements, I still do think trakt definitely needs moderators for comments.
And with moderators a way to message people directly. That would be nice for every user anyway but without moderation / a report function private messages are rather bad to offer, hence they probably don't exist in the first place.
After all these months of hard work, bringing v2 up to speed, I do think there's time to get your hands dirty on this specific topic now.
Take this user for example: https://trakt.tv/users/espectador30
He's written over 200 comments in non-English within one year despite your rule that "Failure to follow these rules will suspend your commenting abilities". For now there seems to be no enforcement on the rule whatsoever and that remark is perhaps only for future reference.
But that user is no exception. Here and there a lot of non-English comments are made (surprisingly a lot of Spanish ones).
But even if one would be willing to report him, or anyone who for example writes only spoilers or insults others, you'd have no idea how to go about this that the person is a) punished and that b) respective comments are dealt with.
For reporting comments, you've got this suggestion already: https://support.trakt.tv/forums/188762-general/suggestions/6059042-report-comments
It's from June, 2014 with a reasearch label before v2 was released.
Anyway, moderators and/or reporting comments and enforcing the comment rule is finally in order.
Or simply a publicly known way to report these people who do (constantly) violate rules.

Definitely on the todo list still. We are working on comment related starting in february.

I came here to request this exact same feature. We need to be able to report comments, especially comments that are blatantly breaking rules (ie non-English). There are users who only post comments in non-English languages which should be removed altogether. People don't care about the rules because there is no enforcement. This has been on the to do list for years now. Please implement this, admins. I am already VIP and I'll gladly pay for another year of VIP the moment that this is implemented. :)

so i understand that everyone has the right to post whatever they want. that's cool or whatever. but when i have to see homophobic and inappropriate comments on a pg show i'd like the option to block/report the comment/user, that's all. thank you for all you do here

On top of that, there are users like https://trakt.tv/users/jessica072 that are just spamming the comments with link to malware infecting pirate sites.

This is getting worse. And the user:
https://trakt.tv/users/espectador30
He wrote 6 comments on one episode (seems he was drunk? Made no sense) in Spanish. What is up with some people? The comments are generally really helpful and/or interesting. And then you have idiots... I think about 30-40% have foreign comments (some I don't even know what language it is).
If you don't want moderators, just add three buttons. Not English, Rude, Nonsense. If someone gets 5 hits on either, hide it. And if someone wants to read all, they click on "Unhide hidden" or something like that. That would be a solution that doesn't require a moderator...
Yes, this could be abused. I don't like person xyz and click on rude on every comment. But it takes 3 votes so it is unlikely that that will happen.

I agree! I just found a spoiler under the new Netflix series Making a Murderer that gives the ending away and ruined the series for me. There's got to be a way to flag a comment as a potential spoiler so others don't get their experience ruined as well.

(see the duplicate comments by Gustavo Pereira who talks about the fate of both defendants giving away the ending to the whole series) -

Please let us report comments as potentially abusive or spoiler-filled.

I just saw a shout with a HUGE spoiler in it, but it wasn't marked as aspoiler. It would be nice if we could down vote shouts so they become hidden after 3 (more or less) down votes, just to protect other users from seeing a spoiler (or something).
Another solution would be if we could vote for a shout to be a spoiler, so again if the shout gets 3 votes it automaticly gets marked as a spoiler!
